- Download VMware Workstation Player:
- Visit the VMware website and download the latest version of VMware Workstation Player based on your operating system (Windows, Linux, or macOS).
- Install VMware Workstation Player:
- Run the installer you downloaded and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.
- Once installed, launch VMware Workstation Player and familiarize yourself with the interface.
- Create a New Virtual Machine:
- Open VMware Workstation Player.
- Click on “Create a New Virtual Machine” or go to File > New Virtual Machine.
- Choose “Typical (recommended)” for the configuration type.
- Select “Installer disc image file (iso)” and browse to the location where you have the Windows Server 2022 ISO file.
- Click “Next” and follow the prompts to set up the virtual machine:
- Assign a name to your virtual machine.
- Specify the location where you want to store the virtual machine files.
- Set the maximum disk size (recommended at least 60 GB).
- Customize hardware settings (e.g., memory, CPU cores, network adapter).
- Install Windows Server 2022:
- Click “Finish” to create the virtual machine.
- Power on the virtual machine.
- The Windows Server 2022 installation process will begin.
- Select “Install now” when prompted.
- Choose the standard evaluation edition and accept the license terms.
- Set up your password and security questions when prompted.
- Once the installation is complete, you’ll be directed to the Windows Server desktop.
- Install VMware Tools (Optional but recommended):
- In the VMware Workstation Player menu, go to VM > Install VMware Tools.
- Follow the instructions to install VMware Tools:
- Adjusts screen resolution automatically.
- Enables clipboard sharing (copy and paste) between host and guest.
- Enables drag and drop functionality.
